Born in 1981, Sebastian Herkner is a young German designer based in Offenbach am Main. During his studies in product design at the HfG (Offenbach University of Art and Design), a focus on designing objects and furniture that combine a variety of cultural contexts was already emerging.
Relying on both new technologies and traditional craftsmanship, his designs highlight the multifaceted beauty of the materials and are characterized by a passion for the small details. His feeling for the interplay of color, material, structure, and texture was further honed during an internship at Stella McCartney during his studies.
Since founding his own design studio in 2006, he has designed products for manufacturers including Pulpo, ClassiCon, Very Wood by Gervasoni, Moroso, Sancal, La Chance, and Rosenthal. He also works on larger scale interior design projects, as well as for exhibitions and museums. Sebastian Herkner’s designs have received multiple prizes, including the 2011 German Design Award in the Newcomer category.
